Proven in Canadian Weather

Designed by Omlet and tested by Canadian customers since 2017. Coast to coast to coast, chicken keepers across Canada trust the Eglu Cube to keep their hens cool in summer and warm in winter.

The double walled design keeps your chickens warm in winter by trapping a pocket of air in the same way that double glazing does on windows.  There's no need to add dangerous heat lamps or lighting in winter to keep your chickens warm.

the easiest coop to clean

The Easiest Coop To Clean

Unlike wooden coops, the Cube comes up clean with minimal effort. All surfaces are smooth plastic making it easy to wipe or hose down. The slide out dropping tray collects up all the mess ready to add to your compost.

We recommend the following cleaning schedule:

Empty tray: once a week

Hose down components: once a month

Pressure wash or scrub clean: twice a year. Once going into winter, and once coming out of winter.

Keep predators out

The run on your Eglu Cube is made from extremely strong steel welded wire. Unlike traditional "chicken wire", predators find it impossible to break the wire panels. The wire is coated to protect from rust and the green blends in nicely with your garden.

To keep out digging predators like foxes, skunks, coyotes and dogs, the run is connected to a wire skirt that extends out on all sides. Any predator that tries to dig, will be stopped by the skirt.

Secure, two-step door handles keep raccoons from turning and opening the egg door and rear panel.

For added security don't forget to peg down the skirt with Omlet Screw Pegs.

Where do they lay and roost?

The Cube has a spacious nestbox that will accommodate up to 3 hens laying at a time. Just add some nesting material like pine shavings or straw and they'll do the rest.

Your chickens will spend all their time outside (even in winter!) only coming in to lay and sleep.

When it's time for bed, your chickens will roost on the roosting bars integrated into the floor. The bars allow them to grip while sleeping and the tray below collects their poop for easy clean up.

frequently asked questions

Does the Cube have perches for sleeping on?

While the Eglu Cube doesn’t have traditional wooden perches, it has specially designed roosting bars with a structured surface and rounded corners where the chickens will sleep comfortably at night.

Roosting bars allow the chickens to grip onto something while they sleep, which makes them feel safe and comfortable. As they climb up into the Cube to roost, they also get the reinforced feeling of being off the ground.

Is the Eglu Cube predator proof?

The strong materials and thought out design of the Eglu Cube makes it extremely hard for predators to get to your pets.

That being said, no coop is 100% predator proof. Check the coop and run regularly to make sure all features are working as intended, including latches, doors and run clips. If you live in an area with lots of predators, including smaller animals like martens and weasels, you might want to consider adding additional protection to the run.

Is the Eglu Cube suitable for chicks?

The Eglu Cube house is suitable for chicks over the age of 12 weeks. We recommend you remove the roosting bars from inside the coop until the chicks are big enough to perch and walk across the bars safely. The Eglu run is not suitable for chicks under the age of 12 weeks without supervision due to risk of escape and predators. Chicks may struggle with the ladder to begin with while they are small, so you may wish to lift them in and out of the coop yourself, or convert the ladder to a ramp. You should use plenty of bedding in the coop to keep the chicks warm, and change the bedding every few days.

Is shipping free?

Shipping is free across Canada.

Can I extend my Cube run at a later date?

The fully modular design allows you to extend your run anytime with the Run Extensions.

Does the Smart Autodoor replace the manual door?

No, the Smart Autodoor is mounted on the inside of the coop while the manual door operates on the outside. The manual door doesn't need to be removed when installing the Smart Autodoor.

What size run should I get?

The size of run you need depends on how many chickens you have, what chickens you have (breed/size/personality), and how much they are allowed to roam free outside the run. Always aim to give your chickens as much space as you can, either by letting them free range in the garden or backyard or by getting a bigger Walk in run attached to the run of your coop. With chickens, the more outside space, the better.

Does it really work in Canadian winters?

The Cube has been our best selling coop in Canada since 2017. Thousands of chicken keepers all across the country have successfully kept their chickens warm all winter with the Cube.

You may be cold and miserable in February, but your chickens won't be.

Great coop - so easy to keep clean

This coop is a happy home for 3 Sussex hens. It is easy to keep clean, and I feel confident the chickens are safe at night. This is a stationary coop for us, with the 2m run. If not using the eglu as a tractor, or if chickens don't have additional space elsewhere I would recommend a run extension. We have also purchased the auto door and peck toys, which are great additions to the coop.
The food and water containers easily clip to the side of the coop. Bring them inside at night if you wish to avoid attracting mice with the feed. As a new chicken owner, this coop has given me the confidence to dive into keeping chickens. Customer service from Four Legs or Wings has also been excellent.

Contented hens

The 4 chickens are happy and comfortable in their new home. And, most importantly, safe, due to the ground wiring all around the cage.
