The Ultimate Automatic Chicken Door

The Omlet Automatic Chicken Coop Door has a powerful electric motor and metal gear that is directly mounted on the door frame for maximum security. Unlike other automatic chicken coop door openers that work on a string and pulley system, the Omlet Autodoor cannot be simply lifted up when shut. This means that predators will not be able to move the door when it is closed, no matter how hard they try. Your chickens can sleep soundly knowing they have the most secure automatic door in the world.

Benefits of the Omlet Automatic Chicken Coop Door:
• Easy to install, no maintenance required
• Operated by light sensor or timer

• Improves coop security and insulation
• Compatible with the Eglu Pro & Eglu Cube
• Reliable in all weather conditions

Light Sensor Mode

Omlet's Automatic Chicken Coop Door can be set to close at dusk and open at dawn. This setting will naturally follow the seasons, ensuring that your hens are safely tucked up when it gets dark and, as the days get longer, the Autodoor will make sure your hens can get out of bed, even when you're enjoying a lazy weekend lie-in.

The light setting uses a sophisticated light sensor to automatically open and close the door at a specific and adjustable light level selected by you. An optional time delay can be added so that the door operates up to an hour after dawn or dusk to suit your flock’s routine. The light sensor has built-in intelligence to recognise and ignore temporary illumination from a security light or torch and will only open after a consistent period of light above the threshold set by you. This ensures that your chickens stay safe and protected at all times and, unlike other less advanced automatic doors, you won’t have any unwanted openings in the middle of the night.

Time and Manual Settings

Another way to operate the Omlet automatic chicken door is by using the time setting. This allows you to set an exact time for the door to open in the morning and close in the evening. The advantage of this setting is that you have complete control over your chicken’s environment and you can set the Autodoor to meet your specific daily requirements. The control panel also has a manual function which allows you to open and close the door independently of the time or light settings and, for total peace of mind, there is a built-in failsafe system for opening the door completely by hand.

Attaches to the Eglu Cube and Eglu Pro

The Autodoor is designed to fit directly to the Eglu Cube and Pro chicken coops. The coops already have fixing points built into the front face and installation will only take a few minutes. In both coops you will not need to remove any parts or modify your Eglu Cube or Pro as the automatic door fits seamlessly into the design of your coop and your original Eglu door can continue to be operated with the Autodoor in place. A separate mounting bracket is required if you would like to attach the control panel to the main housing of the Eglu Cube or Pro.

Optional Coop Light

The Coop Light is a great addition to your chicken coop as it helps to encourage chickens to go back into their coop or run when it gets dark. Powered by the control panel of the Autodoor, the light will automatically come on around 5 minutes before the door closes. This works on both the Time and Light setting on your Autodoor and you can also manually switch the Coop Light on at any time. This is particularly useful if you get home after dark and need to check that your hens are safely roosting.

The Coop Light can be attached to the inside of your Eglu Cube or Pro or any wooden chicken coop and can also be attached to any kind of chicken run.

Works on all wooden coops

Owners of wooden chicken coops can also benefit from the Omlet automatic chicken coop door opener as it is compatible with virtually any design of wooden coop. The design allows the automatic chicken door to be fitted either way up so that the door opens to the left or to the right, depending on which option best matches the configuration of your wooden coop. Not only is the Autodoor a great practical addition to a wooden chicken coop, it is also a significant upgrade on traditional wooden doors in terms of insulation, security and durability. Clear instructions are provided on how to fit the automatic door directly to your wooden chicken coop quickly and securely.

Safety Sensor

The Omlet Autodoor Chicken Coop Door has unique built in safety sensors that work in the same ways as lift doors. The sensors help detect if any chickens are in the way of the door when it is gently closing. So, if you have a sleepy chicken resting in the doorway then one or both sensors will help detect it and and the door will open again to allow the chicken to move. The door will then automatically try to close again until there are no feathery obstructions in the way and your chickens are all safe inside the coop.

Runs on battery power

Four AA batteries are all that is required to power the Omlet Autodoor, negating the need for a nearby power source and additional wiring. The door has been endurance tested under battery power and you can expect a set of batteries to last for a minimum of 6 months. Please note that batteries are not supplied with the automatic chicken coop door.

Works in All Weather Conditions

The Omlet automatic chicken door has been engineered to work reliably and dependably through the harshest of conditions. The weather-proof casing of the Autodoor and the control panel ensures the electronics, motor and gear are safe from the elements. The door has been rigorously tested in extreme conditions down to -20 degrees Celsius. Chicken keepers all across Canada operate their doors at even colder temperatures without issue!

Flexible Control Panel Positioning

One of the great features of the automatic chicken coop door opener is that the LCD control panel is separate from the door itself and is connected via a durable cable. Mounting brackets are available to buy that allow you to fit the control panel to an Eglu Cube house, or you can position the control panel anywhere on your chicken run. Not only is the control panel easy to use, it is neatly enclosed in a triple weather-proof casing for durability and will look great as part of your setup. It also features the light sensor for the automatic door.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use batteries?

The Autodoor uses very little power and  4xAAA batteries will last quite a long time.

Does this door work on Omlet coops other than the Cube and Pro?

No. This door doesn't fit on the Eglu Go or Go Up.

What is the light option for?

There are two main reasons to add a coop light. Firstly, having a light in the coop will encourage the chickens to return to roost when it gets dark. This is especially good if you have one or two hens that tend to stay out longer than the rest.

Secondly, it’s useful to have a light in the coop if you want to check on your hens when it's dark, maybe as you come home from work or just before you go to bed. The hens won’t be bothered by you turning on the light for a minute and peeking into the coop.

Is shipping free?

Shipping is free across Canada.

Does this door have WiFi?

This door does not have WiFi. We anticipate the WiFi version to be made available in Canada by the end of 2024 or early 2025.

What is the Cube/Pro Bracket?

The bracket attaches to the Cube or Pro coop to hold the controller. If you don't have the Pro or the Cube, you don't need this part.

Can I open the door manually?

Yes, there is a manual mode where the door opens and closes only when you press the button on the app or straight on the control panel. For safety and peace of mind, there is also a built-in failsafe system for opening the door completely by hand.

Can I install the door vertically?

No, the motor in the door is designed to open the door horizontally.

omlet automatic chicken coop door

LOVE this door!! So easy to install on my existing coop! It is easy to set up - instructions included are easy to follow. Chickens love that they don't have to wait for someone to get up - the door opens for them on time ha ha. I love that in the winter the door closes when we are at work so I don't have to worry about the racoons. Had great reviews and I can see why! Really like that it is battery operated and it shows the % of battery on the display. Shipped quickly and well packaged. Glad to buy from a Canadian website! Thanks!

Chicken relief

The automatic chicken coop door I ordered was shipped promptly
and arrived within a day. Installation was easy, though I had to use different lower fasteners because of coop construction. A mistake that I made was having a skid / patio for the chickens at the same level as the door. They spread shavings to the point that the door track became clogged and wouldn’t close. I lowered the platform a couple inches to alleviate that problem and all is well now. Programming was a bit of a challenge until I’d worked through it a couple times. I tried to set times but realized it’s easier to leave the factory settings for daylight intensity. After monitoring door operation for several nights, I became confident in it’s performance. Excellent product thus far. I’ll review it again after a Fall and Winter exposure.

Haven't used it as of yet.

My chickens are to young and my coop and door sits outside waiting to be used but it works.
