Batteries or Wall Plug

The Smart control panel can be attached to your chicken run or coop, and plugs in with the power adapter. Alternatively, 4x AA batteries will power the Smart Autodoor for up to 3 months depending on power settings.

 

Safety Sensor

The sensors help detect if any chickens are in the way of the door when it is gently closing. So, if you have a sleepy chicken resting in the doorway then one or both sensors will help detect it and the door will open again to allow the chicken to move. The door will then automatically try to close again until there are no feathery obstructions in the way and your chickens are all safe inside the coop.

 

Once the door is closed, you'll receive a notification on your phone.

Coop Light

Add a coop light to your Smart Door setup to help entice your chickens in at bedtime. The light automatically turns on 5 minutes before the door shuts.

 

The light can be manually turned on anytime you want to take a peak at your resting chickens.

Easy to program

The Smart Door can be set to close at dusk and open at dawn. This setting will naturally follow the seasons. The Smart Door will make sure your hens can get out of bed, even when you're enjoying a lazy weekend lie-in.

 

Alternatively the door can be set to open or close at a specific time.

 

The door can be programmed using the control panel or with the app from Omlet. The door works with or without the app.

Just what I needed!

I can now leave my chickens overnight without having to be there in the evening and morning to close and open the coop door. And I don't have to worry about racoons. The automatic door works great!

Freedom!

We love the autodoor. We didn't have much success with the light mode as it was hit and miss as to when it would work. We changed to the time mode and success! Now I don't worry about getting home after dark as I know my "girls" are safe and cozy. Wonderful product!!

Expensive and doesn’t work- control panel broken from day one.

Regret this expensive purchase. Over 300 dollars for a plastic door. Just installed it this weekend and control panel not functioning - Broken right out of the box. Just wrote the store - lets see what they can do.

Auto Door and Extreme Weather Cover

Hi, I bought both the auto door and the extreme weather cover together in the summer. The auto door works well, but it went through a lot of batteries so I later bought the wall plug connection, which works well and solved the issue. A couple of other issues - pieces of straw across the door path will prevent it from closing so straw in the coop can be an issue. (We had straw in it for a bit while our newest flock members were adjusting to the outdoors. The coop doesn't normally need straw.). The other issue we just discovered yesterday when we installed the extreme weather cover for winter is that the extreme weather cover also covers the auto door sensor on the panel. It makes the door close. Not a big deal. We just stretched the cover to go around the door. It is a beautiful cover. It is very well made, warm, and easy to install. It would be nice for the next generation of the cover if it had a cut out for the panel so we don't have to stretch and distort the cover to go around the panel. We really like that auto door messages by smart phone.

frequently asked questions

Can I use batteries?

We recommend only using good quality AA batteries with your Omlet Autodoor. We do not recommend rechargable batteries as these provide less power than regular ones, and will result in lower battery life.

 

Please make sure you use 4 batteries that are the same brand, same type and same energy level.

 

If you are using the Autodoor with WiFi, we recommend using the power adaptor provided to get the most out of the Smart features.

Does this door work on Omlet coops other than the Cube and Pro?

No. This door doesn't fit on the Eglu Go or Go Up.

What is the light option for?

There are two main reasons to add a coop light. Firstly, having a light in the coop will encourage the chickens to return to roost when it gets dark. This is especially good if you have one or two hens that tend to stay out longer than the rest.

 

Secondly, it’s useful to have a light in the coop if you want to check on your hens when it's dark, maybe as you come home from work or just before you go to bed. The hens won’t be bothered by you turning on the light for a minute and peeking into the coop.

Does this door have WiFi?

This door does have WiFi to connect to the app on your phone. The door also functions without Wifi connectivity by using the included controller.

What is the Cube/Pro Bracket?

The bracket attaches to the Cube or Pro coop to hold the controller. If you don't have the Pro or the Cube, you don't need this part.

Can I open the door manually?

Yes, there is a manual mode where the door opens and closes only when you press the button on the app or straight on the control panel. For safety and peace of mind, there is also a built-in failsafe system for opening the door completely by hand. 

Can I install the door vertically?

No, the motor in the door is designed to open the door horizontally.

Is a power adapter included?

As of Aug 22/2025 all doors will now ship with an AC power adapter.
